Cardiff & Vale Credit Union has been operating for nearly 20 years. We are a financial co-operative that exists for the benefit of our members who live and/or work in Cardiff or Vale of Glamorgan, and for those who work for one of our 30 payroll savings employer partners.
Like banks and building societies, we are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). Savers’ deposits up to £85,000 are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
Unlike banks, our only shareholders are our members who save with us, and any profits we make are used to provide variable rate dividends to our savers, and to invest in the development of our services. We are actively involved in our communities, and are committed to contributing to our local economy and the financial wellbeing of all of our members.
We now have over 7,500 members of all ages and from all walks of life; each contributing to our local revolution for savings and loans. Our members enjoy the benefits of saving safely together and being able to borrow at an affordable rate of interest if the need arises (subject to affordability), as well as the benefit of knowing that saving with us is a great way to support their local community.
We have offices open Monday to Friday at the Advice Hub in Cardiff and at 21 Holton Road in Barry, and also have information points across both counties. From July 2015, we will be based at Central Library in the Hayes, Cardiff.
